Capturing the female body:
(commissioned and personal)
It is a revolution in itself to grow from a little girl to an insecure teenager into a fully formed woman. The path is long and painful. Ugly and beautiful. The body changes along the way, always commented, seen, looked at, shamed and in the worst case touched, hurt, traumatised. Without permission, without respect. But with a system, backing up the most horrible rules, made to oppress and control women, especially women of color.
For this reason I dedicate part of my work to the female body, using the female gaze to heal the wound around the objectification of the female body.
Thank you to Anna, Carmen, Lola, Whitney, Olamiju, Jaxx, Kiki, Melodie and my sister Janny for trusting me and my lense.
